At Linc we want our customers to feel safe and comfortable in their homes, and we want these homes to be in areas that are pleasant to live in.
We are also committed to our local communities, and in this section you can see the work we are doing to help enhance and improve Constables Close, both in terms of engaging with the community and making the area a safer, nicer place to live.
Fly-tipping
We know that fly-tipping has become an issue in Pill, and Constables Close in particular, and we are working hard to tackle this.
The area falls under Newport City Council’s Pill masterplan, the objective of which is to enhance the area, improve the wellbeing of residents and make it a more secure and pleasant place to live.
Funding has been requested as part of this so that Linc can work together with the council and other social landlords on a long-term strategy to eliminate fly-tipping.
In the short-term, Linc will continue to pay for a contractor to visit the cul-de-sac every Friday to clear the rubbish, and we are working closely with Newport City Council, who send their waste and cleansing team in afterwards to clean the street.
In the long-term, the council’s fly-tipping strategy will fund an enforcement and education officer who will monitor and report any fly-tipping to the council, enforce legislation and look into educating local residents around waste and bin collections, to avoid the illegal disposal of rubbish from the start.
What else are we doing to tackle fly-tipping?
- We will be erecting safe, secure and aesthetically-pleasing hoarding for the empty properties, to prevent access and fly-tipping.
- Our contractor will be clearing gardens of rubbish, waste and old sheds/buildings and cutting back overgrown trees and shrubs in empty properties prior to erecting the new hoarding.
- We will be installing CCTV in key areas where fly-tipping takes place.

Constables Close residents are invited to join us on Friday 3rd March at Pill Millennium Centre to speak to a member of the Linc or LCB team in person. We understand that you may have questions about our regeneration plans and how the construction work will impact you. Drop in anytime between 3:30pm and 6:30pm. Refreshments and activities for children will be available.
Our Community Fund
Linc’s Community Fund launched in October 2022 with the aim of helping communities weather the cost-of-living crisis through poverty reduction initiatives. Linc’s fund has already given grants to nine community projects, helping them create spaces where people can support each other and thrive.

Newport Wetlands Trip
Last August we teamed up with Gwent Wildlife Trust and the RSPB to organise a day-trip for families from Constables Close to Newport Wetlands. By providing free transport, food and activities, the trip was accessible to all and saw residents connecting with nature and green spaces. We are now working on fostering a collaborative relationship with Gwent Wildlife Trust so they can be actively involved in our redevelopment plans to help create green spaces in the street to attract wildlife.
